Melissa Hickey   graphic designer

An Iowa native and recent transplant from the Midwest, Melissa received a B.F.A. in Graphic Design and a BS in Microbiology from the University of Iowa. Melissa began her career as a scientist studying Cystic Fibrosis at the University of Iowa, publishing eight articles in peer reviewed journals. Despite the scientific success, Melissa saw art in her future. Abandoning the left hemisphere of her brain for more creative ventures, Melissa began her career as a freelance designer with a focus in print media including branding and event advertising, experience that informs her work designing logos and Web sites at Mudbug Media. Although new to town, Melissa has already jumped into the local arts scene, working at the New Orleans Museum of Art’s Disney exhibit. Melissa brings a love for typography and attention to detail to every project. Her goal is to live creatively and believes that design can change the world. An aspiring foodie, Melissa is happy to call New Orleans her adopted home. In her free time Melissa enjoys reading blogs and eating lots of carbs.
