From Cufon to Typekit

Before the advent of Typekit and technologies like Cufon and sIFR, designers were stuck using only the fonts that came bundled with the average computer, so the Internet mostly looked like a gigantic Word Document written in Times New Roman and Arial.

A plain looking website is fine if it functions primarily as an information distribution platform. But if you really want your business or personal website to stand out and stay modern, few things work better and more intrinsically than an inventive and stylistic font.

Good Deed: Zoo-To-Do 2010

It’s been a pretty busy few weeks for the Mudbug Media team.  We’ve painted faces, peeled crawfish and walked for Cystic Fibrosis.  While the crawfish were pretty much for our own enjoyment, the other two events were definitely designed to give back to the community.

Geek Pride Day

May 25^th is Geek Pride Day, so to honor this momentous global celebration, the Mudbug Media team thought we’d let our Geek Flag fly and share some of the things that cause us to regularly geek out.

I think it should come as a surprise to exactly no one that most of our graphic designers, programmers and Google specialists can proudly flaunt a ton of geek cred.  We have five iPads.  That means we’re not only early adopters, we also won’t be satisfied with just one example of the latest and greatest in internet technology.  We have to have five.

Healthcare Advertising Awards

NEW ORLEANS – Mudbug Media has received a Bronze Award and a Merit Award in the 2010 Healthcare Advertising Awards. SEO: Little Changes, Big Impact

The days of treating websites like static advertisements are long gone.  A business simply cannot expect to attract new customers online with a website that looks like a flier or a page from the phone book.  Name, location and business hours won’t even come close to cutting it.

Search engines like Google actively search out websites with the most pertinent information possible on any topic.  If someone types in “mountain bike New Orleans,” and you are in the business of selling mountain bikes in New Orleans, it is in your best interest for that search to turn up your website as the top result.
